Almost a hundred days have passed since the end of Operation 'Pillar of Cloud' - and this the morning calm was disrupted: a Grad rocket was fired from Gaza towards Ashkelon. It exploded on the road near the industrial zone in the city. There were no casualties but damage was caused to the road.
Police sappers removed the rocket off the ground. Police spokesman: "An explosion was heard in Ashkelon, experts combed the area and found a rocket which caused damage to the road, but there were no injuries."
Since the end of Operation Pillar of Cloud, on November 21 2012, not even a rocket was fired from Gaza into Israel.
Military sources confirmed this morning that Jahad organizations in Gaza decided to defy Hamas, who wants to keep the peace, and to launch an aimed rocket as solidarity with the protests for terrorists imprisoned in Israel. The possibility that two rockets were fired, when one landed in an open area and has not yet been found, is being checked.
The one who took responsibility for the attack was the military wing of Fatah, Fatah's al – Aqsa. According to the organization, the shooting was in response to the "murder", as terrorists defined it, of Arafat Jaradat, the detainee who died at Megiddo Prison. "Freedom comes only through sacrifice and we must resist the enemy by any means," said the organization's statement.
