Police opened an investigation against a known community leader • suspected of criminal behavior

Crime Investigation and International Unit recently conducted a sensitive and embarrassing investigation centered on a well-known rabbi, who heads one of the largest communities in Jerusalem suspected of embarrassing and incriminating acts.

According to the report tonight (Wednesday) on Channel 2, a long time ago, an avrech in one of the institutions of the community was witness to one of these embarrassing cases. The avrech is a baal teshuva, sge 30, who studies at the Kollel, testified to his friends, and according to the report, since then they conspire against him.

The highlight of the story that was first reported in B'Chadrei Charedim came in the wee hours last Friday night at about 2:30 in the morning, a man stood at the door of a private home, fired several bullets at the door - and escaped. There were no injuries. Large police forces were called to the scene and opened investigation into the incident.

Investigation of the incident revealed that early on a Wednesday night, around 2:00 at night, a violent fight broke out outside the shul of the community in Mea Shearim, during which that avrech was beaten, and he independently vacated by taxi to the hospital - where he was treated.

Following the attack, the beaten man apparently came to the apartment of one of the parents involved in a fight. He knocked on the door and receiving no answer, fired at the front door and fled before police arrived.
The avrech confessed during his interrogation and subsequent to his comments his assailants were also arrested. He also testified that the rabbi who heads the community performed the acts attributed to him.

Because of the high sensitivity, the investigation was transferred to the Crimes Jerusalem police, and it turns out that they are dealing with others cases attributed to the rabbi, and also deal with similar offenses.
