Shabbos Zachor in prison: the detention of Reb Chaim Halperin and prisoners of London was extended by 36 hours

Shock in Haredi community in London: Hendon District Court extended today (Thursday) the detention of four detainees involved in the Halperin affair, who had been arrested more than 24 hours.

Reb Chaim Halperin, one of the city rabbis, his brother Rabbi David Halperin, Gavriel Ost, a leader of the 'Shomrim' in Golders Green, and Alexander Strom a Golders Green functionary also known as a writer of the local Haredi newspaper.

British police conduct their investigation discreetly, and refuse to share media information or engage the activists affiliated with the detainees.

B'Chadrei Charedim learned that during the last day a hearing was held for some detainees, and it seemed that some of them will be released. But later, some were brought before the judge - so the police could legally hold them in custody and continue the investigation.

The court extended the detention of suspects by 36 hours, so the rabbis and other prisoners will remain behind bars even on Shabbos Zachor, the Shabbos that the whole community gathers before Purim.

It was also discovered that recently a number of other avreichim were investigated, who the police suspected that they were involved. But so far there were no arrests. For the first time today the country's largest media began coverage of the affair after they realized it was branching. Tonight a channel will broadcast extensive article on the subject, and Rabbi Halperin is estimated to be in the center.
"This is a big shock," said a resident of Golders Green in the city, "I think the police decided to do a final order."

Rabbi Halperin, is suspected of attacking women who came to him for advice in matters of Shalom Bayis. Three other detainees are suspected to cause silencing provision - even though they knew about it, and in addition to obstruction of justice.
