"Israel now needs a unity government and we make the first move. We signed an agreement with Hatnua of Tzipi Livni. State of Israel is now facing enormous challenges and some unprecedented. Threats from Iran, Syria and Hezbollah do not stop for a moment. In order to respond to these threats we need broad and stable government to unite the people.
"In addition to the commitment for security we must make every effort to advance the peace process. To meet the challenges from home - including equality burden – we must join forces to look for common rather than what divides. This is what I and Livni do today. We both know that we need to put aside the differences and rivalries and join forces for the country. Livni will be Minister of Justice and she will be a partner to the political process, "Netanyahu said.

Livni said: "We have pledged to campaign for a political settlement. Commitment and trust in us led to partnership that you see here today, which matured after we had our conversations. We received the appropriate authority to be negotiating in order to end the conflict. This is the central theme to our lives because it is our reality.
"We have a history of rivalries and precipitation. I criticized the conduct of Netanyahu during the last four years - but since then we had long talks and reached an understanding. We should initiate the process important to Israel. I am proud to be the Minister of Justice because I believe that to maintain the values of democracy and the balance between Jewish Israel and democratic state, "she added.

According to the draft agreement, Livni will receive certification to conduct negotiations with the Palestinians, and there will be a cabinet that will deal with the peace process and will also include the prime minister, foreign minister and defense minister.
MK Aryeh Deri spoke this evening with MK Tzipi Livni to congratulate her on joining the Netanyahu government. Livni thanked him for his blessings and said she expects Shas to also sign in the coming days.

Deri: "Tzipi Livni certainly will contribute from her experience for the challenges ahead, the State of Israel today needs the government to unite the divided nation and not cause controversy and discourse of rejection of the other."
