Who misled the Haaretz: Did Hgray"l supported the Stern outline?
Yair Ettinger published in Haaretz as if he supported Hgray"l Steinman in the Stern outline for equal burden • Who misled the reporter? And for what interest? • And why did Hgray"l refrain from publishing a denial?

Two phone calls received last night, at the house of Hgray"l Steinman shed new light on the case which was reported a few days ago in Haaretz. According to the report by journalist Yair Ettinger, offers have been placed on the table for equal burden, another suggestion - that of Prof. Yedidia Stern, Vice President of the Israel Democracy Institute. Ettinger further revealed the (significant) fact that the honorable Professor wrote the program along with attorney Chaim Zicherman, also a research associate at the Institute. The two were members of the Plesner committee.
The proposal includes an outline based on the suggestions of Professor Mordechai Kremnitzer and Professor Avi Ben Bassat, and contains strong principles concerning the Torato Umanuto arrangement.
Ettinger bothered to note that "the main program of Stern was presented before Maran Rosh Yeshiva Hgray"l Steinman, who did not reject the offer out of hand, but due to public opposition of the Lithuanian fanatic's, the program has slim chances of admission."
Was the proposal brought before Hgray"l? Apparently not, according to insiders, "Attorney Chaim Zicherman, the son of Rabbi David Zicherman, belongs to a family very close to the Ashdod sector under the presidency of HaGaon Auerbach, and this is why the reporter was misled in that he was told that supposedly Hgray"l supports the program, while Hgr"sh Auerbach opposes it."
As proof they tell about yesterday's phone call from Rabbi Yosef Petrov, Hmsb"k of Hgr"sh Auerbach to Rabbi David Shapiro, grandson and faithful servant of Hgray"l.
"Is it true that the Rosh Yeshiva supports the Stern Layout?" - Asks Petrov - and was refused emphatically
"So why do you not publish denial?" – He went on to ask.
"I have an entire issue of denials you edited before the election, this brochure was also not published" - Shapiro replied.
Minutes later, the cell phone of Rabbi Moshe Yehuda Schneider rang, also a trustee of Hgray"l. Petrov was again on the line, and again repeated the same question and received the same answer which emphatically denies any agreement outline.
"So why does the Rosh Yeshiva not deny?" - Petrov questioned again.
"The Rosh Yeshiva has a receipt from the Chazon Ish zt"l, not everything has to be denied" - he replied.
And what a pity that before publication reports that allegedly Hgray"l agreed to one outline or another, no one thought to find out if it is true.
