Menachem Carmel apologized before Reb Chaim Kanievsky: the ban revoked

Businessman Menachem Carmel, owner of the supermarket chain, Bar-Kol and Heichalei Malchis halls sent a commitment to the home of Hgr"ch Kanievsky on Rashbam in Bnei Brak. Carmel apologized for his conduct in recent months, for his support - counter to the opinion of Hgr"ch – of the Hapeles daily newspaper - published by the Ashdod sector, and promised for the future: from now I will not publish my businesses in the newspaper.

Hgr"ch accepted his apology, and thus comes the unofficial ban imposed on the supermarket chain and halls owned by Carmel - to an end.

In recent months, the Lithuanian public yeshiva students kept away from the Bar-Kol supermarket, as well as the Heichalei Malchus halls.

The ban, first reported in B'Chadrei Charedim – which was informal, but was accepted by the the majority of the public, since when Hgr"ch Kanievsky ordered his family members to cancel weddings set in the Heichalei Malchus halls, after he discovered that Bar-Kol advertisements appeared in the Hapeles newspaper.

In light of the boycott there were students who kept away from weddings held in the Heichalei Malchus halls and avoided the weddings of neighbors, friends and family.
As part of the battle against Menachem Carmel in Party Degel HaTorah, he also was ousted in seventh place in the list of Yahadut Hatorah, and instead former mayor of Bnei Brak Yaakov Asher – was elected to the Knesset.

Menachem Carmel to B'Chadrei Charedim: "No comment".
