Likud officials said that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, is ready to go to re- elections - if Habayit Hayehudi arent flexible on coalition negotiations. "Bennett should not pull the rope too much, because in the end it will break," explained the senior, as published today (Monday) by the journalist Ze'ev Kam at Ma'ariv.
According to the report, Netanyahu - according to sources close to the coalition talks – is not willing to consider the possibility of giving up on the ultra-Orthodox parties in the coalition. "Netanyahu is willing to go to elections; the main thing is not to surrender to his alliance with Lapid."
"Bennett and Lapid should internalize," Likud sources transferred a message to leaders of Habayit Hayehudi and Yesh Atid. "Netanyahu is not willing to place Lapid into the coalition before he concludes with all the natural partners."
But Habayit Hayehudi was not moved by what seemed a tactical exercise for more negotiations. "Netanyahu is threatening with an unloaded gun," said the seniors at the party. "If we go to reelections, Likud will receive 12 seats, because the public will punish him for not establishing the most natural government - with us, that's what he should have done in the first place."
MK Uri Ariel from Habayit Hayehudi declined in response to the accusations of the senior at the Likud party that the positions of the coalition negotiations will lead to new elections, saying that it's just another spin of the Likud.
'This morning' transmitter in B network Ariel said to journalist Aryeh Golan that there will not be new elections and that Netanyahu will form the next government. He estimated that Habayit Hayehudi will be in the coalition. Ariel refused to answer the question of whether his party will recommend to the President for another candidate to form a government, if Netanyahu fails to do so within the time specified by law.
In addition, as reported yesterday, the Likud are considering signing coalition agreements with Shas, Yahadut Hatorah, Hatnua and Kadima and place Habayit Hayehudi before an established fact, forcing the party to choose whether to join a minority government or overthrow it.
According to this scenario – reported by Channel 2 and Channel 10 - Netanyahu establishes that the parties are not interested in new elections and won't topple the government.
Exchange of verbal blows between Habayit Hayehudi and Likud went further in recent days. Habayit Hayehudi Knesset members are calling out to their chairman as well as representatives of Likud-Beitenu's negotiating team to put the rivalry between the parties that accompanied the 2013 election campaign behind them, and "lead a serious coalition negotiations", it has been reported this morning by Yisrael Hayom newspaper.
According to the report, Habayit Hayehudi MKs stressed that at this stage they rely on the party chairman who will negotiate with the Likud which will bring results, but they said the main goal was and remains being part of the government, "with or without Yair Lapid," they said.
However, we can assume that rivalry reflects mainly verbal negotiation tactics and at the end of the day, everyone will find a way to get along in the shade and shelter of the coalition.
