End of abuse to arrest: yesterday (Sunday) Lakewood police arrested the suspect driver who injured Moshe Guttman, a volunteer of the Chaveirim organization Friends in Lakewood, and a member of Hatzalah in Union County during a hit and run car accident - and escaped.
Police and Chaveirim volunteers searched the city over the past week to locate the offending driver. Yesterday morning Guttman's brother in law noticed a possible match for the offending vehicle - a Chevrolet Astro – to a van parked at the rear of a house on 5 East.
The brother in law interrogated a neighbor concerning damage to the vehicle, and the neighbor said that the car was in an accident last week. The volunteer immediately called the police, and upon the police's arrival they determined that the damage described by police and traffic safety.
The suspect, a young Hispanic, was interrogated, he admitted - and was arrested.
Search of his home also found fake driver's licenses. He will stand trial on charges of speeding and fleeing the scene of an accident without giving aid to the wounded.
Moshe Aharon ben Miriam Raizel, underwent several surgeries since the accident, and he was released from the hospital on Friday.
Chaveirim organization spokesman told B'Chadrei Charedim: "The arrest of the suspect will not heal the wounds caused to Moshe, but it gave us a lot of joy when we received the news of the arrest of the driver."
