What exciting surprise awaited Naftali Bennett at the Mir Yeshiva?

Chairman of Habayit Hayehudi, MK Naftali Bennett - suffered attacks last week by ultra-Orthodox parties, as well as Likud Beitenu, on the alliance with chairman of Yesh Atid, MK Yair Lapid, who requires to implement the blueprint for equality burden which threatens to devastate the Torah world - arrived this morning (Monday) for a visit at the Mir yeshiva in the Beit Yisrael neighborhood in Jerusalem.

At the start of his visit to the world's largest yeshiva, Bennett said: "We came here to learn."

First, the the chairman of Habayit Hayehudi came to the home of the Rosh Yeshiva Hgrn"tz Finkel zt"l for a meeting with the Roshei Yeshiva. The meeting was attended by the Rosh Yeshiva Hgra"i Finkel, Hgr"y Ezrachi, Hgr"b Carlebach and the mashgiach Hgr"a Chadash.

The highlight of the visit when three avreichim, prominenet talmidei chachamim entered the room where Bennett was sitting with the Roshei Yeshiva. The three, it turned out, are friends of the chairman of Habayit Hayehudi from their high school days. One of those present said: "Anyone sitting room at the time can attest to the excitement that was evident amongst participants when the three told him about their agenda and way of life"

After the meeting, Bennett went on a tour of the halls of the yeshiva. Later he also visited Chevron Yeshiva - Givat Mordechai.

The purpose of the visit was to primarily present the new leader of the religious Zionist party the Torah scholars and yeshiva world, hoping to change his mind and attitude with regard to equality burden.

Hgray"l Steinman, was asked whether to approve the visit, and expressed his consent.

Ultra-Orthodox parties hope that the visit will be for Bennett a ladder to descend from the tree he climbed with Lapid, or at least change and moderate his views on recruiting yeshiva students.

Bennett also met yesterday with MK Aryeh Deri from the Shas movement. The meeting was considered positive.
