Yisrael Meir Beck z"l, a resident of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, disappeared 13 years ago and has not been traced. This past Friday the body was found in a foreign cemetery.

Yisrael Meir Beck disappeared in תש"ס. His family, the police and voluntary organizations from the Orthodox neighborhoods of Williamsburg and Borough Park, held an extensive search for him, all over the United States. Even a reward was promised for whoever locates him. However, he disappeared.

A few weeks ago one of his relatives decided to try again to find Yisrael Meir. He made the search for hundreds of missing persons who died around New York and were buried in non Jewish cemeteries, and on their graves was marked a number given by the police and forensic institute.

The family member turned to a Chesed Shel Emes - and its leaders appealed to the authorities. These sought Yisrael Meir's DNA. After receiving an example - it was transferred to the forensic Institute.

On Friday afternoon, the reply came.

It turns out that on the day he disappeared - Beck was admitted to Jamaica hospital due to health problems, wearing no identification on his clothes. A few days later - in Shevat תש"ס - he died. His body was kept in the hospital for several weeks. After nobody came to claim the body, it was transferred to the morgue - and then buried in the non Jewish cemetery foreigner, in the plot designed for criminals.

The new information was immediately brought to the family and to the Chesed Shel Emes, and those already contacted authorities on Friday and asked permission to dig the grave and the removal of the body, to bring it to rest in a Jewish grave.

Details about the funeral - will be published soon.
