A particularly fascinating cabinet meeting was held this morning (Sunday). The Prime Minister gave a speech and also referred to the incident of Prisoner X, Obama's upcoming visit to Israel and the death of Moshe Rabbeinu.
"At the opening of the meeting I would like to say that I completely trust the security forces of the State of Israel. They are dedicated and committed indefinitely to ensure that we can live in this country. I also rely entirely on the authorities in Israel. Forces and Israeli intelligence are working under the full supervision of the Authorities of the law - which are totally independent. This combination, to safeguard security and maintaining law has preserved freedom of expression, but overexposure of security activities and intelligence activity can hurt - and sometimes even seriously harm - national security, and therefore any discussion should not underestimate the interest of security, and the reality of the State of Israel and it must be a central interest.
"We are not like other countries. We are exemplary of democracy, and maintain the rights of the detainees and human rights as any other country. But we are also more threatened, more challenged, so we must take care to maintain the correct operation of ours security forces., So I ask of all, let the security forces continue to work quietly so that we can continue to live in security and peace in Israel", Netanyahu concluded his comments about Ben Zygier, the prisoner X.
"The government will hear a briefing prior to the visit of U.S. President Barack Obama in Israel, which is expected to take place next month. We are in the midst of preparations for this visit. He will focus on three issues: one, the progress of Iran's nuclear weapons. Unfortunately, this progress continues, Iran recently accelerating its nuclear activities, it enriches high-level material, and it installs new centrifuges to shorten the time of arrival and time to cross the red line I set at my speech at the UN.
"The other issue would be the disintegration of the regime in Syria. Yesterday we saw the battle on our borders. We shall continue to guard the border and prevent passage and entry into Israel, with limited exceptions, individual, each of which will be considered on its merits.
"Third, we will discuss the political process with the Palestinians. This Attorney Mr. Molcho weekend returned, representatives for talks, for a round of talks in Washington. This week national security advisor Yaakov Amidror is expected to go out there. There is no doubt that this is the issue on the agenda and will be part of the work of the next government. During this visit we will discuss essentially the most significant issues to Israel's security and for the future. "
Finally Netanyahu said: "Today, the seventh of Adar, is the birthday and the anniversary of the death of Moshe Rabbeinu. This is the day when we commemorate Memorial Day for fallen soldiers whose burial place is unknown. Israel is doing all the time effort to restore our fallen for burial in Israel, and is constantly working to find the missing sons."
