The transport vehicle which drove ten Avreichim from the USA who were on their way for the Yahrtzeit of R' Elimelech of Lizensk – turned over, after being involved in a head-on car accident.
The vehicle which was driven by a local driver, drove in complete darkness to the village of Lizensk. When it passed close to Dinov, it collided head-on with a local car and lost control.
Moishi Rabinov, one of the passengers who were in the vehicle, told Behadrey Haredim this morning (Thursday): "We drove in a transport vehicle towards the grave of Reb Elimelech from Lizensk. We were after an exhausting night flight and napped a little in the car.
"Suddenly, we felt a great blow, and discovered that the vehicle we travelled in capsized. Two Avreichim were injured, and writhed in pain. I heard many cries, and didn't know what to do. I'm a volunteer of Hatzalah in Boro Park, and Baruch Hashem I only got dry wounds and could help the injured a little. I told the driver with a broken Russian to phone the police. When he had the police on the line, I talked to them in English and explained the situation to them. The police promised to send an ambulance to the scene, but it only arrived 50 minutes later.
"In the meantime, I phoned Hatzalah Boro Park and asked them to make contact with the Hatzalah people in Lizensk and tell them to come to the place.
"With the mercy of Heaven, we managed to take care of those injured, and four of them were transferred to the local hospital. One of those in the group joined them to the hospital, where the Hatzolah volunteers who especially arrived in Lizensk had also arrived. We carried on our way to daven on the grave of R' Elimelech, there we thanked him for the big miracle we had."
How did the accident occur?
"It seems the driver was tired and maybe also a little drunk. The road conditions were also very harsh."
After the activity of the international unit of Za"ka, it became known that there was a head-on accident at the place. In the vehicle which drove the Jews, there were four slightly injured, who received medical treatment in hospital and will be released from hospital today. In the local vehicle there are two injured in a harsh condition.
