Creepy: the social networking posted tonight a column written by Daphna Meir HYD, in which she describes her feelings in light of the shooting attack which occurred near Othniel on November 13, an attack in which Yaakov and his son Nathanel Litman HYD of Kiryat Arba were killed.
Meir HYD addressed the security situation in her column, "Lately, many reflections arise in me due to the security situation," she wrote, "Thoughts on what, why, about what should be done, what should not. Or impossible to. Or not worthwhile. How to act. Especially on the road. But not only. About fears. About my husband and children. Friends and families. About a lot of things. The situation is not easy. I sometimes have the feeling of a Russian roulette. And even insomnia.
She also writes: "While walking the streets of Othniel, I occasionally happen to greet friendly colleagues in my field who chose to give up their freedom for the benefit of emergency preparedness in our village and its surroundings. These people walk around with beepers of various types throughout the day. On weekdays and Shabbat. They hear about all events first and for some they jump on the special vehicles called ambulance and fly to the scene to save what they can. Even in the middle of the shower, or in the middle of a Shabbat meal. Perhaps these people sleep with shoes. Who knows?
"Lately, they had many calls which are not happy. Yes, not every call is a woman giving birth. What can one do. And even if it's a birthing woman, sometimes she is Palestinian. And after what we saw last Friday with the Red Crescent, the desire to help her is no longer at its peak. I know the feeling. It happens to me occasionally. Members of emergency medicine of the village come to the dangerous scenes. Perhaps there are still some traps? It's scary! And when they go, in the first minutes until they reach, perhaps they have time to think, "Who will I meet this time?" "Maybe it's the neighbor, a friend, maybe the wife?" This is a terrible reality", she concludes.
