Attacks in Jerusalem last night (Wednesday): is it dangerous in the Old City? Hagaon Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky was asked, and his answer was surprising.
After the attack at Jaffa Gate, avrechim entered the residence of Hagaon Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky to ask whether it is appropriate to avoid entering the Old City of Jerusalem.
R' Chaim answered: "Find out if it is dangerous there."
They in turn asked how to find out. And Rabbi Chaim replied: "Ask R' Aharon Leib." (Hagaon R' Aharon Leib Steinman, AP).
The yeshiva students responded and asked, "and how will he know?" Rabbi Chaim replied: "R' Aharon Leib has Ruach Hakodesh."
Yesterday afternoon two were killed at the Jaffa Gate, Ofer Ben-Ari, of blessed memory, 46-year-old Jerusalem resident who was shot accidentally by police. So too, Rabbi Reuven Birmacher HYD, Argentina-born 45-year-old resident of Kiryat Yearim and magid shiur at Yeshiva Aish HaTorah. Another avrech is still hospitalized at Shaarei Tzedek Hospital and his condition is improving.
