Anti-Semitism in New York: "Himmler did a good job," a cop expressed himself to his fellow Jewish policeman.
David Utley, a Jewish policeman in NYPD who suffered from intolerable anti-Semitism from his superiors, decided to resign from the police and file a lawsuit against it and nine policemen.
The dream of David Utley, a former Israeli, was to be a police officer in New York. Six years ago he fulfilled his childhood dream and was hired as a regular police officer.
But Utley suffered from anti-Semitism, and he decided to resign and start legal action against the police.
In an interview with ABC news network Utley revealed recordings including harsh anti-Semitic manifestations of his commanders and his friends against him.
When Utley felt that enough was enough, he submitted a request to switch to another department, when they said no, he decided to document anti-Semitic behavior of his police colleagues, and to record the statements made in secret.
This week Utley published the recordings which he defined as "harsh to hear". In the recordings they are heard saying: "We need to put you into a furnace" or "one has to tattoo you a number".
Police reported that it is conducting a special internal investigation concerning the issue. Meanwhile claims have been filed against three police officers.
