After dozens of cities in Russia restored their Jewish past in recent years, came the turn of the Jewish community of Ivanov in central Russia too, when this week it inaugurated a synagogue and Jewish center newly built in the city center.
Ivanov was until a few decades ago a small town in Russia, but in recent years it has developed into a large city, with industrial centers. Among the many factories in the city, was also one of Russia's largest plants for the production of hummus (chickpeas), which markets its products in the whole country with the mehadrin hechsher of "the Chief Rabbinate of Russia".
The event was chaired by the participation of the Chief Rabbi of Russia, Hagaon Rabbi Berel Lazar, with the participation of the mayor, deputy governor of the province and many government officials, who came to honor the Jewish community on its day of celebration.
