Supporter of Ba'alei Tshuva: Hagaon R' Yaakov Cheshin zt"l

Baruch Dayan Ha'emes: in Bnei Brak, Rabbi Ya'akov Cheshin zt"l, one of the prominent tshuva world's leading rabbis who served as chairman of TLL, passed away this morning (Wednesday). He was 70 years old.

Eight years ago, Rabbi Yaakov Cheshin was injured in a car accident while in the United States to raise funds for his institutions.

The Rabbi was flown to Israel and was hospitalized and his condition since then knew ups and downs.

The Rav zt"l was born in Jerusalem on twenty-fifth of Sivan 5705 to his father, Rabbi Moshe Chaim Cheshin zt"l and his mother Miriam Leah.

As a child he studied the Talmud Torah 'Etz Chaim' and as a bochur at the Chachmei Lublin Yeshiva in Bnei Brak at Posek Hador Hagagon Harav Vosner zt"l. He also huddled in the shadow of the Rebbe R' Hersheleh of Kretchnif zt"l, and later was close to his sons the Rebbes of Kretchnif Jerusalem and Kretchnif-Sighet USA.

He founded the organization TLL – the movement for education of help, to help families of ba'alei tshuva. He was previously a chief of staff for shchita abroad.

He is survived by a dor yeshorim- his son Hagaon Rabbi Menachem Mendel Cheshin rabbi of the synagogue Kehal Chassidim in Kiryat Herzog, Bnei Brak, his son Rabbi Aharon Zeev Cheshin and his son Rabbi Eliyahu Arieh Cheshin of Elad who serves as a shochet and a kashrut supervisor.
His funeral will leave this morning at 11:00 am from his home in Elisha Street 35 Bnei Brak, to Mount of Rest in Jerusalem where he will be buried.
