An ambient feeling at the summit meeting: US President Barack Obama and Prime Minister Netanyahu met today (Monday) at the White House in Washington.
At the beginning of the meeting the US president said that "There is no leader I have met as many times as Netanyahu, which is a testament to our relationship with Israel. We have a closer military and intelligence cooperation than any two administrations in history. We are making sure that one of our close allies will not only defend itself, but will also combat threats in the region." He added that "we must work with Israel to promote peace ahead".
Obama also referred to Palestinian violence and declared that he is condemning it.
The meeting took place in the shadow of the conflict over the nuclear deal and the Ran Bertz affair.

Obama referred to that, saying: "It is no secret that there is a dispute between us relating to the nuclear agreement with Iran. But we have no disagreement about the need to prevent Iran from nuclear weapons".
Netanyahu said he "remains committed to the idea of a demilitarized Palestinian state which recognizes the Jewish state. I do not think you can doubt the determination of Israel to defend itself against terror and destruction, but you can not doubt Israel's willingness to make peace with those neighbors who are really interested to make peace with us."
He thanked the US president for his help for Israel and said: "I want to thank you for your commitment to our security and to express my appreciation to you and the people of Israel. I thank you for strengthening the deep friendship between the US and Israel".
The meeting between Netanyahu and Obama will mainly address the subject of increasing annual defense aid to Israel.
Americans are expected to compensate for the nuclear deal with Iran, by increasing the scope of aid, which currently stands at a total of $ 3 billion annually, and to promote the supply of advanced weapons to Israel.
