A new early alert system against Qassams

A month ago, a successful test of a new radar system in the Gaza vicinity communities, for providing warning of fire short-range rockets, was carried out.

The experiment which was conducted was an overwhelming success, and the system is expected to shorten the time of the alert by about eight seconds during which the residents can get to a secure area, which will reduce greatly the number of rockets launched without warning.

It is estimated by the IDF that the new system will begin operating in the coming weeks.

IDF completed its planning of the new barrier in front of the Gaza Strip and the gradual plan for its establishment. IDF ranked the program that will give an answer to the tunnels and are awaiting final approval of financing for the first phase.

Project cost is estimated at about a billion shekels but budgeting has not yet been approved. IDF hopes budgeting would not limit the barrier.
