Siren at the opening of school year; failed rocket launch in South

This morning (Tuesday) at 5:21am, the Red Color system was sounded in Kibbutz Yad Mordechai and Netiv Ha'asarah, following the detection of a rocket at the western Negev.

Apparently this was a failed dispatching from the area of Beit Lahia in the northern Gaza Strip. The rocket landed inside the Gaza Strip near the security fence.

A local terrorist organization affiliated with ISIS claimed responsibility for the launching, even after the shooting failed in terms of a launch. The assumption of responsibility, was written in Hebrew, "O you Jewish cowards: At the beginning of the school year your leaders don't provide security to your sons" (sic).

Despite the shooting, schools in Ashkelon Coast Regional Council are starting as usual. The Council stated that they are in constant contact with military officials.

Head of the Ashkelon Coast Regional Council, Yair Farjun: "I appeal to the Ministry of Defense officials to make an effort to complete the existing protection gaps in our educational institutions immediately."

The reaction of Tamir Idan, head of the regional council Sdot Negev: "On this festive day, where all the children of Israel are marking the start of the school year, the children of the Gaza envelope again are painfully reminded which takes them years back, to the days of Operation Tzuk Eitan. The leaks of fire can not last any longer, especially in these days of going back to routine, a time when the children of all are exposed to a lot more when they are transported to school and on the paths of settlements on the way to kindergarten. I call on the prime minister and defense minister not to allow even one siren to pass the agenda, living side by side with fire leaks is not a normal life.

"Despite the sirens and shooting, we chose to begin the academic year as usual in all educational institutions in Sdot Negev, the children were accompanied in shuttles and stations in towns by security guards and Border Policemen. I wish all the children of Israel a productive and peaceful school year".
