Tragedy in Kiryat Gat: toddler Simcha Bunim Carmel z"l
Toddler Simcha Bunim Carmel z"l, who sustained head injury last Thursday night, died after a four-day struggle for life

After four days, today (Tuesday) the child Simcha Bunim Carmel z"l of Kiryat Gat, passed away of his wounds.
On Friday morning, shortly before 8:30 AM, a family from Hadekel Street in Kiryat Gat contacted a medical center and reported a two and a half year old who is unconscious. Ichud Hatzala drives and MDA teams which arrived began performing CPR and continued their attempts to save his life in an intensive care unit until their arrival to hospital, after which his pulse returned.
The Haredi child, according to his parents, was injured in his head on Thursday night. At the hospital CPR was performed, and tests showed a serious head injury. The baby was sedated and on a respirator, and was transferred to Ichilov Hospital for further treatment of neurosurgery, but died there at midday today.
The child Simcha Bunim z"l, named after the Rebbe the Lev Simcha of Ger, of blessed memory, was the son of Rabbi Israel Carmel, a prominent avrech in Kiryat Gat community of Gur and son-in-law of Rabbi Shimon Yosef Rosenberg of Kiryat Herzog in Bnei Brak.
One of the relatives of the boy tells Behadrey Haredim, crying: "They've prepared all the things for the boy's Halakeh in the early winter. Kippah and tzitzis, everything was ready, he had been waiting for this all the time."
Spokesperson of Union Hatzalah said after the case: "At the arrival of volunteers on the scene they encountered the boy unconscious and without a pulse and not breathing when according to family the child was injured the previous night in his head and was not feeling well during the night, the volunteers performed advanced resuscitation until the arrival of the ambulance that took him in critical condition while continuing resuscitation".
MDA Paramedic Ephraim Yanko who also arrived on the scene said: "When we got there we saw a boy of about two and a half unconscious, without a pulse and not breathing, along with MDA drives who arrived we gave him medical treatment and we performed advanced and prolonged resuscitation and when his pulse returned we evacuated him in critical condition to the hospital on a respirator."
As stated, in the afternoon the infant died at Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv, after suffering a head injury.
Parents were invited to give evidence by police after medical opinion and following the story of the case, and at this point, a check is being conducted.
