Ashkelon dripping shooting routine returns: red color alarms were activated this evening (Saturday), in the city and its environs, after the detection of a rocket launched from the area of Beit Hanoun.
Iron Dome systems which were set again on Thursday at Ashdod and Netivot were not used, and the launched rocket exploded in an open area in the Ashkelon Coast.
Salafi extremist organization threatened earlier this evening, that they would continue firing, if Hamas did not release prisoners. Recall, last Wednesday around midnight rockets were launched from Gaza, alarms were activated in Ashdod, Netivot, Ashkelon and the Gaza perimeter. Two rocket hits were identified in open areas in the fields Negev, no injuries or damage.
ISIS related Salafi organization; "a company of Sheikh Omar Al-Hadid" has accepted responsibility for the attack, claiming revenge for the murder of one of their members by Hamas. The IDF responded after several hours and attacked Hamas terrorist targets. "Even if those firing into Israel are rogue gangs of global jihad organizations wishing to challenge Hamas by firing at us, we see Hamas responsible for what is happening in the Gaza Strip, we will not tolerate attempts to harm our citizens", said Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon the morning after the shooting."I suggest not testing the patience of Israel with this terror. The IDF responded aggressively on the night of the shooting. If the need arises we will attack even more intensely and last summer proved it. "
Head of the Ashkelon Coast Regional Council, Yair Farjun responded: "We will not accept being held hostage by any factor beyond the fence. I trust the army will know to detect the terrorists and expect the political leadership to restore quiet to the region."
Ashkelon Mayor Itamar Shimoni said: "It is the moment of truth of the Israeli government. This is no longer accidentally or single shots but a gross violation of the ceasefire. The quiet we thought will prevail in the region after Operation Preventive Edge disappeared faster than we expected and we should not accept such a reality. The time has come to change it. However, I trust the government and its head, will take the right decisions in the coming days. "
Yisrael Beitenu Chairman Avigdor Lieberman commented: "We must not get used to this. There is no such thing as a trickle and there are no "rebellious organizations" - there is only one meaning of all rocket firing: Israeli civilians, children, women and men who cannot maintain a normal life. We must not get used to it again because getting used to it says we allow it, and a state where its citizens are important to her - cannot agree to that. We must not get used to it."
