Will join? Yachimovitch praises economic appointments

A surprising reinforcement to some members of the new government, was made this evening by MK Shelly Yachimovich of the Zionist camp, who said: "In terms of the social and economic agenda this government is far less bad than its predecessors."

Tonight (Saturday) Yachimovitch wrote to members of the Zionist camp that "in terms of the political agenda this is an appalling government. Rightist, paranoid, seeking contention, alienated to the world. It carries with it stagnation out of ideology. In its foundation it has not even one political word. And stagnation, you know, also means escalation, even hopelessness, and increasing international isolation. Here, unfortunately we have no real influence.

"But in terms of a social and economic agenda, this is a government which is much less worse than the previous ones. There are some really good ministerial appointments, and to be completely open - with some of them I have a much wider common denominator than with many officials in opposition.

"If a talented person such as Litzmann tells me that one of his main tasks is long term state insurance for all - this is a huge drama and there is no way that I will not cooperate with him. Haim Katz in welfare, Gila Gamliel with a social portfolio, Kahlon in the Treasury, Gafni in Finance, Shas ministers - we might find ourselves, and are even committed by the Israeli public - voting for their initiatives, reforms and laws."
