For the first time today (Wednesday) Haredi soldiers in the Givati Brigade performed military operations in the line enclaves of Mount Hermon in the north, including advanced technological equipment.

Today Haredi fighters carried out the first operational activity in the north where they are stationed in recent months. Company commander, Capt. Guy Mader, tells Behadrey Haredim that the soldiers occupy a Hermon area in northern Israel and perform fully operational employment as the rest of fighters in the sector.

"Over the last three days the company has carried out a thorough combat procedure in preparation for activities in the border area. At night we went to work and thank G-d there was an excellent and beneficial activity to the people of Israel. The human material in the company is at a high level; serious and very professional soldiers with a great desire to learn and become professional. This company is an example of a pure and most obvious integration of Torah life with real life."

In August 2014, a first recruiting cycle of the Haredi framework in Givati Brigade started, and in four days new Haredi soldiers shall be recruited to the division. This course expands the possible placement of the Haredi public in IDF, enabling significant service while maintaining their way of life. Today, about 100 Haredi soldiers serve in the Givati Brigade, and in the upcoming enlistment their number is expected to increase by another 50 soldiers.

One should note that this activity is a first in this area, since the incident two months ago in the north, where a combined attack by Hezbollah was launched in Mount Dov, and the soldiers Captain Yochai Klangel (25) and Sergeant Dor Chaim Nini (20) zt"l, were killed, and seven soldiers were wounded. The attack began when an anti-tank missile was fired at two army vehicles in Mount Dov that were unarmored.
