New head of the conversion - Rabbi Yitzhak Peretz

Screening committee of the Ministry of Religious Services chose today (Monday) new head of conversion. Position of Rabbi Yitzhak Peretz was elected, acting as a place of Rabbi Druckman since the latter's retirement from the role.

Screening committee sat in Rishon Lezion Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef, Director General, Ministry of Religious Services and the Chief Rabbinate Elchanan Glatt, and two representatives of the public and a representative of the Civil Service Commission.

Deputy Minister of Religious Services MK Rabbi Eli Ben-Dahan, said: 'I congratulate Rabbi Peretz upon being elected. I am sure that Rabbi Peretz will lead to the many challenges facing the department. Unanimous choice indicates his full compliance for this complex role.

Head of conversion is a role which halachicly manages the conversion system of government. Soon Director of conversion, administrative management role, will be elected replacing Yosselson who is retiring from his role.
